Okwuofu Urges Civil Servants To Adhere To Rules, Regulations

The Delta State Government has charged public servants to adhere to the laid down civil service rules and regulations in the discharge of their duties.

The Chairman Delta State Civil Service Commission, [CSC] Chief Nkem Okwuofu, gave the charge in Asaba when she led Board members and management staff of the Commission on a working visit to the Directorate of Government House and Protocol
She said that the civil service was the engine of every bureaucratic process and its rules and regulations should be enforced to maintained the system explaining that certain misconducts such as lateness to work, loitering, improper dressing, absenteeism would no longer be tolerated in the service.
“we are here to meet with the staff and create synergy with you so that we do not work at variance with one another, the change we are creating in the Commission will start with you as an individual, lateness to work, absenteeism, loitering around the offices and at the Commission, will no longer be tolerated. Attendance registers will be opened in all departments and units to check lateness while absenteeism will be monitored and reported to the Commission for further actions”, she said.
Chief Okwuofu assured civil servants of prompt attention to their promotion issues as at when due but charged the Ministries, Departments and Agencies to ensure that due process of promotion was adhered to so as to clear noticed anomalies.
She disclose that a proper staff audit would be carried out in the second quarter of the year to provide a current data base of civil servants in the state.
The chairman who commended the Directorate for their turnout at the visit said that the working visit provided the Commission an opportunity to get acquainted with the staff and get input on how to make the civil service the envy of all in the country
In a welcome address, the Permanent Secretary Government House and Protocol, Mr. Eddy Ogidi-Gbegbaje commended the Chairman and her team on the working visit, asserting that "this visit is a confirmation that the commission is on a mission to bring change into the civil service and creating a more virile and disciplined service”.
