Nelson Egware's photo. Delta State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has charged staff of the Unified Local Government Service to positively impact on the socio-economic lives of the people at the grassroots.
Senator Okowa who gave the charge yesterday (25-2-16) when members of the Association of Heads of Personnel Management (HPMs) and Treasurers [TLGs] in the state Local Government Councils paid him a courtesy visit in Asaba ...said that the local government directly deals with the grassroots and should strive to impact on the lives of the people despite the economic situation in the country.
According to him "I am glad that we have this association of HPM and TLG who appear to be the highest level of management staff at the local government council level and to that extent i want to believe that the proper functioning of local government council will rest on membership of this association; l hold the administration of Local government very dear to my heart because it affects the grassroots" he said stressing that " A good management will positively affect the lives of our people."
While acknowledging that the Association was made up of the top management staff of Local government, senator Okowa urged them to always share and implement enriching ideas that would help in the socio-economic development of the people.
" It is my hope that since the association was actually put together to share ideas, such ideas should enrich the level of functionality at the local government level so that we are able to impact positively on our people" he said.
Governor Okowa urged the local government councils not to be dormant but to be creative and invent ways of achieving positive results while following due process.
He admonished the staff of the Unified Local Government service including primary school teachers to key into the on-going biometric exercise as it was meant to identify the actual number of workers and save money for the service to attend to its responsibilities.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Association, Comrade Monday Agbeyi, commended Governor Okowa's developmental stride in the past 8 months of his administration and assured him that the association would continue to abide by due process to ensure that things are properly done in the local government councils for the prosperity of all Deltans.
