8 MONTHS UNPAID SALARIES CRIPPLES CHILDREN EDUCATION AND PARENTAL CARE.
Gov Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa of Delta State spends a minimum of N30 Million monthly as special demostic allowance which must be delivered to him in cash for his family up keep.
The governor is also entitled to special entertainment allowance of N15 million per month excluding the budgeted Government House maintenance and security vote. In a nutshell, Okowa is collecting a minimum of N200 million as extensed family upkeep allowance, entertainment and security vote.
The prosperity Governor's allowances must be paid as at when due while local government workers in Delta State turn beggers in the streets; starving to death without help and their children turn security risks in streets across Delta as a result of parents inability to pay school fees.
Rescue Delta Media Group (RDMG) reporters who went round the 25 LGAs reported that workers have deserted their duty posts for lack of funds to pay their way to office while others decided to stick to their farm work and petty trading to keep body and soul together.
RDMG learnt that some of the affected workers go-naked openly to invoke curses on Gov. OKOWA and his rogue cabals who swore to wreck havoc on LGA workers by diverting funds meant for their salaries into private pockets and fixed deposit accounts.
More pathetic is the "I don't care" attitude of the governor who since assumption of office decided to unconstitutionally withhold and spend funds meant for LGAs without approval and recourse to the helpless and subservient local government Chairmen; stripped of their constitutional responsibilities of managing their federal allocations.
Okowa, was alleged, to have openly bragged that he would strategically starve the LGAs so as to render majority of the serving chairmen redundant and unpopular with a view to raising a new crops of loyal LGA Chairmen in the forthcoming elections.
Information at our disposal is that over 75% of the LGA Chairmen and their droves of supporters are warming up to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Of a truth, Gov Okowa's "Prosperity for all Deltans" campaign slogan has been discredited by his clueless and anti-people leadership style; to the effect that Deltans no longer see the need for the governor to remain in office for one extra day.
Each day Okowa spends in office, Deltans groan in acute pain and frustration.
The speaker and legislators are not helping matters. Speaker Monday IGBUYA is a mere tool in the hands of the governor while members of the House of Assembly are helpless over the over-bearing influence of Gov Okowa in the internal affairs of DTHA.
WORST days are ahead in Delta State. Joblessness has increased to an embarrassing proportion as the SMART AGENDA only provided between N10,000 and N15,000 stipends for few participants of the training programmes.
The so-called beneficiaries of Okowa's SMART AGENDA are back in the streets as bus conductors and Okada riders.
It is hoped that Deltans will rise up to the occasion and take on the government of the day in Delta State to account for their huge financial resources being filtered away by PDP cabals and the incumbent governor.
Gov. Okowa should release the 8 months salaries of LGA workers before they constitute further security risks to Deltans.
Those who have ears, let them hear.
