#COVID_19 UNITED STATE FUNDS MADAGASCAR HERBAL TREATMENT AFTER W.H.O DISAPPROVES IT.

The lastest controversial 'cure' to the COVID-19 pandemic came from Madagascar, Covid-Organics is a herbal remedy made from local plants that are also used to cure malaria. Last week WHO (World Health Organization) said there is no proof that the remedy works while the Presidency claims it has been tested and have cured people. WHO says the only hope is in a vaccine, but the Madagascar said they will not wait for a vaccine and the president has for the remedy to be used for both cure and prevention. While WHO disaproves the remedy USA ambassador Michael Pelletier said the American goverment will fund Madagascar $2.5 milliom. "The contribution of $2,500,000 as additional funding granted to Madagascar as part of the fight against the coronavirus" Michael Pelletier said "The exclusive allocation of this sum in popularization on the national territory of the solutions found". he added in an address exclusively in Malagasy. Other local sources say that three teams of Western researchers, respectively German, Danish and American, have combined their efforts to carry out analyzes on the preventive and curative scope of the use of artemisia for the treatment of coronavirus. Only time will tell whether African remedy will be a solution to a global problem.

NDDC- There's No COVID-19 Fraud In NDDC as alleged- IMC

NIGER DELTA DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION (NDDC) PRESS STATEMENT THERE IS NO FRAUD AT NDDC The Niger Delta Development Commission has been inundated with enquiries on many negative reports in online publications alleging acts of impropriety on the part of the commission. Given the extent of public interest and the determination of the Interim Management Committee to chart a new course for the commission, we feel duty bound to respond as follows: 1. COVID 19 Contract The online publications are circulating a letter purportedly issued by the Director of Procurement awarding a contract of N5.55 billion for the procurement of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and other kits to fight the spread of COVID 19 in the Niger Delta region. We wish to unequivocally deny that contract. The document is simply fake or at best unauthorised. The letters for all contracts awarded by the Commission are signed by the Executive Director, Projects on the authority of the Ag Managing Director who is the chief accounting officer of the Commission. Neither of the officials is aware of the contract letter. It is inconceivable that a contract and of such magnitude could be awarded otherwise. The Commission has launched an internal investigation into how such a letter came to be issued and on what authority. For the purpose of transparency, we wish to confirm that the Commission has just secured presidential approval to intervene by assisting NCDC in the supply of kits and the building of isolation centres in the nine Niger Delta states. Also, the Commission has disbursed N775m to assist the 9 Niger Delta States fight the plague. We have also disbursed N270 million as palliatives to the youths, women and the physically challenged in the 27 senatorial districts of the region. 2. Lassa Fever There are claims that the present management has paid out huge sums for contracts to supply kits and drugs for the prevention of Lassa Fever. We wish to state that this present management has not awarded any Lassa fever contract. From the records, the Commission awarded three contracts for intervention against the Lassa Fever scourge and all these took place in 2019, at least one year before the present management came into office. For the purpose of transparency, these contracts are as follows: In early 2019, there was an outbreak of Lassa Fever in Ondo and Edo states, which overwhelmed the capacity of the state governments to cope. The governor of Ondo State made a request to the Commission for intervention. As a result, the then management, headed by Prof Nelson Braimbaifa on 20th February 2019 awarded a contract for the procurement of 21,000 Lassa Fever prevention kits for the region in the sum of N903 million. The items were supplied and distributed. The contractor was duly paid. As the scourge persisted, there was need for further intervention. Another 1,000 protective kits were ordered for N1,092,283,500. This contract was awarded on March 11, 2019. The last contract for Lassa Fever was awarded on April 16, 2019 in the sum of N2,425,242,248. All the kits were supplied and distributed to the nine states. As at date, the Commission is yet to pay for this last contract. Payments had been suspended on ministerial order due to the need for verification of past contracts. At no time did the IMC pay out more than N4 billion for Lassa Fever contracts as alleged. Having provided the facts, the Commission also wishes to state as follows: We has noticed an upsurge in attacks on the Commission, the Interim Management Committee and the Honourable Minister of the Niger Delta Affairs since the launch of a forensic audit into the affairs of the commission. This attacks are meant to distract the commission from the task of holding those who looted the commonwealth to account. The Honourable Minister and the Interim Management Committee are determined to see through this audit. On Wednesday, April 22 when the relevant documents were handed over to the lead consultant for the forensic audit, the Ag Managing Director, Prof Kemebradikumo Pondei warned that this exercise cannot be truncated. To quote him: ‘Those who took part in the grand conspiracy to loot the commonwealth are jittery that their misdeeds will come to light. We wish we could sympathise with them. But it could have occurred to them that a day of reckoning will come. The fear of the impunity of their past misdeeds being brought to light is causing panic. In fact, the vultures are shivering. Let us place on record that no amount of intimidation, campaign of falsehood and ‘breakdancing’ will abort this exercise.’ The public should be prepared for more of these attacks against the commission. It is important to point out that most of the attacks use online publications, with no known addresses or physical assets, which can be sued for defamation of character by the officials they are clearly libelling. The mainstream media with standards have not joined this jaundiced plot. The Commission also wish to warn those agents of darkness from the Niger Delta who are hell bent on destroying every good thing in the region to change course. The essence of the present IMC and the forensic audit ordered by President Muhammadu Buhari are to reposition the Commission to make it fit for purpose. Anyone with any evidence of wrong doing should reach out to the IMC or the auditors. The forensic auditors should be allowed to complete their assignment so those who failed the region can be held to account. It is also clear that people who have political agenda against the Honourable Minister of Niger Delta Affairs are also seeing the Commission as a fair game. It is imperative to say that the commission is an agency for the good of the Niger Delta region. The greatest disservice that can be done is for political gladiators of today to make the commission a collateral damage in their contest for power and influence. Tomorrow will come. Besides, the Hon Minister’s uncommon passion for a new Niger Delta should be applauded and not attacked. Charles Obi Odili Director Corporate Affairs April 25, 2020.

Dusk To Dawn Curfew In Delta Is To Shutdown Night Life, Other Activities - Gov Okowa's EAC.

The dusk to dawn curfew imposed on citizens in Delta State, has been described as one of the best steps taken by the governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, to fight against the spread of Corona Virus across the the three senatorial districts. Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Communications, Dr (Barrister) Fred Oghenesivbe, made the assertion at Crown FM Radio public affairs programme aired live in Ababa, on Wednesday 15th April, 2020. Oghenesivbe said the state governor deemed it necessity, and for the safety of all Deltans; to completely shutdown night life throughout the state, to avoid secret gatherings at night for any reason or purpose, adding that there were reports of illegal assemblage of fun seekers who tacitly violated the social distancing Covid-19 preventive measures. He disclosed that in order to ensure total compliance with the stay at home executive order, and to reduce the number of arrests and prosecutions, government took further result oriented step to impose the dusk to down curfew, pointing out that small brothels, beer parlours, entertainment joints of any kind, other form of commercial and social activities remained closed and not allowed to operate during the day and at night for another two weeks. "The curfew is to prohibit movement of persons and reenforce total shutdown of commercial activities from 7pm to 7am with effect from Wednesday 15th April, 2020, for another two weeks, to further prevent the spread of Covid-19 which is currently ravaging the world. "Specifically, it is meant to abolish night life and movement of persons and confine people to their homes, so as to avoid the temptation of illegal social gathering in local beer parlour joints and other hidden or obscure places. This is to further ensure total compliance to social distancing and state Lockdown. "His Excellency the governor directed the Commissioner of Police in the State, to enforce the dusk to dawn curfew. Some categories of professionals rendering essential services are exempted and these include; law enforcement personnel on duty, doctors and nurses on duty, Journalists on duty and they must carry their official identification cards which must be made available to security personnel on duty upon demand. "Violators of the stay at home order and the dusk to down curfew shall be apprehended, arrested and prosecuted in accordance with relevant laws in any court of competent jurisdiction which include; mobile courts constituted by Chief Magistrate Courts across the three senatorial districts in the state," Oghenesivbe disclosed. And on the harsh economic consequences of the stay at home order, on citizens and the government, Gov Okowa's EA Communications said it is better to be in good health and be broke financially for a short period of time than for citizens to go about their legitimate commercial activities and be ravaged by Corona Virus pandemic. He posited that health is an integral part of wealth, adding that a healthy workforce will always be a wealth creating team; which is why Okowa administration will continue to pay priority attention to the health, safety and wellbeing of all Deltans. "Government is also affected by the Lockdown in terms of revenue generation, just the same way Deltans are temporarily loosing substantial financial gains for staying at home this period. "The stay at home order and the dusk to dawn curfew came to be as a result of prevailing circumstances on the part of government to keep our people healthy, and to prevent Covid-19 pandemic from ravaging our state, as can be seen from the highly devastating negative effects of the virus in Italy, China, United States of America and other countries around the globe. "The bitter truth is that those who are against the lockdown, and dusk to dawn curfew do not want to contract corona virus and die in the process. It is also the wish of the government and the governor for Deltans to be in good health always. Therefore the governor's well reasoned decision to extend the lockdown deserve commendation. "Good governance in constitutional democracy is anchored on people oriented policies, programmes and landmark achievements. Majority of Deltans are in support of government actions and inactions as regard the fight against Covid-19 pandemic, and government is encouraged by the huge support from our people across the 25 local government areas in the state. "The state food bank will soon commence full scale distribution and sharing of foodstuffs and other items as palliatives across the state to cushion the effects of the stay at home order. "Governor Okowa ordered that distribution of palliatives should be via federal ward channels to ensure that the foodstuffs get to the aged, unemployed youth, unskilled labourers, those who depend solely on daily income and weekly waves. It will not be based on membership of political parties because hunger does not discriminate against persons. "We are a praying stat. Deltans are lucky to have a governor who is totally committed to the things of God. It is a big advantage to us as a people and I am standing on the Rock of Christ, to say that we shall survive this period together as Deltans, and at the end God will take all the Glory," Oghenesivbe assured.

COVID-19 Pandemic Lockdown: Chief Gbagi Doles Out Cash, Distributes Food Items To Deltans, Nothing Gives Me Joy Than Putting Smiles To Peoples Faces

Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi: As the COVID-19 sweeps across the globe in astronomical proportions, the urgent need for governments, corporate and private individuals around the world to put measure in place to cushion the effects of the austerity confronting the world, including but not limited to food and medical/health care, has become increasingly necessary. In Delta State, Nigeria, Olorogun Gbagi, in his deeply rooted culture of philanthropy and goodwill, has once again demonstrated that, at all times, the welfare and well-being of the people are fundamental and non-negotiable. Thus, Olorogun Gbagi being the true reference point and benchmark for the underlying essence of philanthropy, as usual, once again taken it upon himself to provide palliatives to the good people of Delta State in the light of the global COVID-19 pandemic. As a seasoned administrator and philanthropist, Olorogun Gbagi understands that the welfare of Nigerians and more particularly, Deltans is the ultimate goal of the State Government. However, whilst the government is doing all within a constitutionally defined orbit, such duties as citizens’ welfare must not be left solely at the hands of the government Armed with this consciousness and his usual tradition of giving selflessly, Olorogun Gbagi through the Gbagi Foundation has commenced the first phase of a statewide distribution of over 100 bags of rice, 300 bags of garri, 150 cartons of Indomie Noodles and cash to Deltans. The exercise which saw beneficiaries thronging out enmasse, kicked off at Oginibu, the immediate community of the former Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Other places visited by Gbagi’s Foundation are: Ororokpe, Sapele and Jesse.
