ALLEGED COVID-19 INDEX CASE IN WARRI NORTH - PATIENTS TESTED NEGATIVE AS OKORODUDU WARNS AGAINST FAKE NEWS AND STIGMATIZATION.

The Chairman, Warri North Local Government Council, Amb. Aduge Okorodudu has warned those disseminating fake information across the council area to desist from such. The council boss, made the statement amidst the fake news about a family alleged to be infected with the virus in Koko. The council RAPID RESPONSE TEAM lead by the Executive Secretary took samples from the suspected persons on Wednesday to Asaba test center, and the results came out late Friday 1/4/2020 to be negative. Amb. Okorodudu said, he was shock when the information was flying from different area that there was a coronavirus case in Warri North LGA, while proper investigation and result has not been officially released from the Asaba test center, he said such rumor mongering and stigmatization will be dealt with henceforth. He said since receiving the information of suspected case of covid-19, the council has ensure the man and his family was in self isolation and placed on surveillance while their temperature and other symptoms were being observed while awaiting the result. He however, gives God Almighty the glory for the negative result from Asaba The Warri North helmsman also appeal to residents to continue to wash their hands with water and soap, use alcoholic based sanitizer, maintain social distance, always wear face mask and avoid unnecessary travel this period. He commended resident of the council area for their patient during this period of lockdown in the state.
