Julius Gbabojor Pondi born 1978 is a member of the Federal House of Representatives, representing the Burutu Federal Constituency of Delta State Nigeria, under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Making of laws is one of the principal responsibilities of the Nigerian Senate as specified in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and other rules guiding the National Assembly. In these guides, the power of the senate to make laws that will enhance peace, order and good governance in the Federation are clearly specified. However, the nature of laws that will emanate from the senate vis-a-vis their usability to societal peace and development depends on the nature and caliber of people in the senate. This is the single driving force for my aspiration.

If elected, I will sponsor bills that are people oriented and people driven. To achieve this, I will always make it a duty to always call an annual town hall meeting of Stakeholders in the District and bi-annual town hall meetings in the 8 LGA that make up Delta South Senatorial District. This will make room for an effective representation of the good people of Delta Central senatorial district, and true service to humanity. I will also appoint LGA coordinators with offices in all the LGA' under the senatorial district to enable us have first-hand information on how and what the people feel. This will not only bring me close to my people, it will also help in ensuring that prompt response to challenges faced are promptly addressed- when we know, then we can act accordingly.

As we all know, the Senate is about lobbying and making laws to favour your the people of your district. With my experience as the West Africa Youth For Human Right Ambassador, where I mentor young people globally, I have what it takes to represent the Delta South Senatorial District in the red chamber. I will create employment for our youths by championing the industrialization of the district. This we hope to achieve by working in partnership with multi Nationals for the establishment of local Industries.

I will also do my best to ensure that the Warri and Koko ports are opened. This will no doubt bring about an economic boom in Delta South Senatorial District in particular, and Delta State & beyond in general. As already known by all, although we are Oil and gas producing district, we do not have any multi-national IOC’s head office in the district. This is unfair to us. Hence, one one the great things we hope to achieve together is to see that some of the IOC’s offices of the multi-nationals operating in our vicinity are located here. All we need to get this done is to lobby other law makers in the upper and lower chamber that are from the South-South region and other stakeholders for the relocation of IOC's to the Niger Delta region, and being part of the Niger-Delta region and initiator of such move, Delta South Senatorial district will sure benefit from this when it happens.

The world is a global village, for this reason I will make Delta South Senatorial District an Information, Communication and Technology base by working and partnering with Private and public/Local and International ICT companies for the establishment of modern ICT facilities. This will make Delta South Senatorial District an ICT champion in Nigeria and West Africa as a whole. The issue of security of life and property cannot be over looked. Development can only thrive where there is security and peace. To this end, I shall ensure structures are in place for community leaders working in partnership with security agencies.

The National Assembly also has broad oversight functions and it is therefore empowered to establish committees of its members to scrutinize bills and the conduct of government institutions and officials. If I am elected, it will go down in history that I did not support any bill that is not for the interest of my people.

When elected, I shall be accountable and transparent as I can be to the people of Delta South Senatorial District. The Constitution confers exclusive powers to the Senate, amongst other things, the power to scrutinize and confirm major appointments of the executive. It is, however, specific about the appointments to be confirmed. They are those of the Ministers, Special Advisers, Ambassadors, top Judicial Officers heading specified levels of courts, the Auditor-General of the Federation, and the Chairmen and Members of the vital National Commissions. But I will only support individuals with integrity.

I will also establish a home for the most vulnerable and aged people in the District. This is to ensure that they are properly cared for. We will however work out modalities to ensure that this is sustained and not abused.

Although I have used the first person singular in most parts of this manifesto, I wish to state at this point that in actual fact and in all sincerity it is going to be we, not I, because no one is a monopoly of idea. For this reason I implore you to join hands with me, let us make a giant contribution to nation building for the benefit and service of humanity. Let us build a Society that should be of interest to every one of us. And with God on our side we will get to the promise land.

Senior Political Adviser to the Governor of Delta State Chief Festus Ochonogor,  Executive Chairman of Warri South local govt Hon.(Dr)  Michael Tidi,  Political Adviser to the Delta State Governor Hon Omimi Esquire,  Senior Special Assistant on Youths Development to the Governor of Delta State Comr. Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area in Delta State, Dr. Michael Ejueyitsi Tidi has s felicitated with President of Nigerian Football Federation, Mr. Amaju Melvin Pinnick over his re-election Thursday September 20.

Mrs. Flora Alanta while giving the welcome address stated that the program is to bridge the gap of unemployment amongst women in Delta state. In rounding up her welcome address, she stated that having trained over 250 women in this phase of the program, another batch commence immediately.

The secretary to the state government (SSG) Hon. Festus Ovie Agas while giving the keynote address commended the efforts of the office of the executive assistant to the governor on women mobilization for development for the successful training and certification of Delta women on various skills stating that this will go a long way to affect socioeconomic activities in the state. He encourage the women to continue in their support for the PDP led administration and governor Ifeanyi Author Okowa stating that the governor is determine to do more for Delta women so as to promote and improve self reliance, self sufficiency and financial stability amongst others noting that women are the stronghold of Delta politics.

He went further to declare the program open, inspect the products of WESAP trainees and presented the first empowerment equipment to Mrs Brigbe Elizabeth.

No fewer than five thousand Politicians Today (12/09/2018), decamped from the All Progressive Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) .

DELTA State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa and the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Barr. Kingsley Esiso while receiving the defectors, observed that PDP will have a smooth sail to victory in the 2019 general elections.

The decampees who were from different local government areas that made up Delta Central Senatorial District peopled largely by the Urhobos, were received at a mega political rally held at the Ughelli Township Stadium, Ughelli, Ughelli North local government area of the state.

Col. Morrison Ideh, Chief Edward Ofomona, Chief Ochuko Johnson, Chief Reuben Oteri, Chief Samuel Umunedi, were among those who led their followers to join the PDP.
According to Governor Okowa, "it is a thing of joy that those who we described as big fish in the opposition have come to join us in the PDP."
"With these persons that have joined us today, it is a smooth victory for PDP in 2019," the governor said, adding, "we are with God, we are with the people, we are not deceiving people, we tell our people the truth, we are working with our people."
He asserted, "for the 2019 elections, we will hold on to our units and wards, we will not allow anybody to intimidate us, we will win the next election clearly with the massive support we have."
Governor Okowa commended those who decamped to the PDP, disclosing that with the work his administration was doing in the state, the few persons remaining in opposition political parties will join the PDP before the 2019 general elections.

Chairman of the PDP, Barr. Esiso, stated, "Governor Okowa is working, we believe in the principle of rotation of the governorship seat, Governor Okowa will complete his eight years, we cannot be intimidated."

"Nigerians are tired of APC government, they are tired of hunger, we must have a President of PDP extraction in Aso Rock in 2019, today is to tell the world that the people of Delta Central are fully in support of Governor Okowa in 2019," he said, emphasising, "we cannot follow a political rascal that will come to us every four years to deceive us, we will never accept those who will go to Abuja to disgrace us."

Col. Morrison Ideh, Chief Edward Ofomona, Chief Ochuko Johnson, Chief Reuben Oteri, Chief Samuel Umunedi, in their separate speeches, disclosed that they were attracted to the PDP by the leadership style of Governor Okowa's administration, especially in the delivery of democratic dividends across the state.

They stated that their movement to the PDP signaled the death of opposition political parties in the state, noting that ahead of 2019 general elections, Deltans should rally round the governor to give him 100 per cent votes in appreciation of good leadership.

Delta South Senatorial aspirant on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, Barr. Irone Rita Begho, has called on the Director-General, Department of State Services, DSS, Matthew Seiyefa and the National Security Adviser, NSA, Babagana Monguno to investigate the recent statement credited to the lawmaker representing Delta South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator James Manager, wherein he reportedly vowed according to Saharareporters that he would rather die, than allow an Itsekiri person to succeed him as senator.

Barr. Begho in the swift petition addressed to the NSA and DSS DG, noted, “My immediate reaction to this was that the Distinguished Senator as a lawyer and long serving member of the highest law making organ in Nigeria, may not have said so but given the credibility of some of the media that reported it, I consider it imperative not to wave it aside”.

She argued that it is important for Senator James Manager to immediately and overtly refute the statement if he never said so, stressing that such clannish and un-statemanly comment is capable of causing disaffection amongst the constituents.

“By the end of his tenure in 2019, Senator James Manager would have spent 16 years in the Senate and this is unprecedented in Delta State and many other states of the federation. With or without any debate as to how he has performed, it is only fair for him to step aside, especially as there are persons of other ethnic nationalities and persons of different sexes in the Senatorial District. The average man of today would hardly live beyond 100 years and if 16 out of the 100 years, he has enjoyed the privileges of occupying such a position, then he must consider himself extremely lucky and part of the gratitude he can show to God and humanity is to step aside and not to ascribe to himself the role of God” She contended.

The Senatorial hopeful posited that for a state as volatile as Delta, such statements will always be counter-productive. “As a lawyer of over 32 years post call experience, I cannot allow comments like these to go unattended to, because of their potentiality for crisis especially as it affects elections. We need all the ethnic groups in the Senatorial District to take it to the Promised Land; inclusiveness is the way to go” She submitted.

Barr. Begho who has already commenced her consultations with the constituents of the Senatorial District, is a direct child of Late Chief E.NA. Begho, the then Iserigho of Warri Kingdom and a renowned nationalist leader.

She added, “as a people, Delta South Senatorial District is viewed as educationally advantaged, we should be seen as encouraging gender participation in governance by at least once in a while supporting women. There is no better time to ask for a woman Senator than after more than sixteen years of uninterrupted male domination in the Senatorial District. AS the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) prepares for primary elections for candidates, Delta State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa and his Gombe State counterpart, Dr Ibrahim Dankwambo have urged all aspirants to use the primaries as a means of strengthening the unity of the party.

The two Governors spoke  (29/08/18) in Asaba when Dr Dankwambo paid a consultative visit on members of the PDP and unveiled his presidential ambition on the platform of the party.

According to Governor Okowa, “I believe that the spirit we need in our party is for all aspirants to have strong interest in making our party stronger, there must be spirit of give and take.”

“In Delta State, we are very strong as a people and as a party, we are united and we will continue to stay united, God is our strength and the unity of our people is unshakable, we are right on course and we will continue to do the things that will unite us,” he stated, emphasising, “we will continue to stay strong, there is no shaking at all.”

 Governor Okowa who lauded the qualities of aspirants for different positions on the platform of the PDP, asserted, “we have listened to Dr Dankwambo, he has spoken as a gentleman, a man of peace who has ensured massive development in Gombe State.”

“He is a man of character; Deltans believe in democracy, we will not force the hands of the people on where to go but, I am confident that they will take the right decision,” the governor added.

Earlier, Governor Dankwambo had congratulated Governor Okowa’s administration for the massive development projects being executed in the state, disclosing that he was in Asaba to tell the people about his aspiration to be the President of the country on the platform of the PDP.

“I am a retired Accountant-General, and in the next few months, I will leave office as Governor after two terms, I am only 52 years; so, I have a lot to offer the country; I know Nigeria, I know the finances of Nigeria; I know how they formulate policies and I know how these policies are implemented and most importantly, I am still very strong and I am telling the people my desire and aspiration to be the President of Nigeria under the PDP,” he said, stating, “we should draw a criteria and assess all of us who are aspiring for the office, if you find me worthy, I am ready to serve, but, if you find somebody who is better than me, I will join the person to serve.”
