Mr. Deji Harstrop,
PGPA Chevron Nigerial Limited (CNL),
Lekki, Lagos State.
PGPA Chevron Nigerial Limited (CNL),
Lekki, Lagos State.
Dear Sir,
REJECTION OF YOUR COMPANY PROPOSAL TO EMPLOY INDIGENES OF UGBORODO COMMUNITY THAT HAVE WORKED IN THE EGTL PROJECT DURING IT’S CONSTRUCTION WITHOUT RECOMMENDATION AND IDENTIFICATION FROM THE COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP FOR THE TURN AROUND MAINTENANCE OF THE EXCRAVOS GAS TO LIQUID PROJECT (EGTL).
I write to you on behalf of the Entire Youths of Ugborodo community to inform you that your company’s proposal to us to employ some youths and indigenes of our community that worked during the Construction of the EGTL without recommendation and identification by the community is totally rejected by the Ugborodo community youths.
This is so because some of the people Chevron Nigerial Limited employed during the construction of the Excravos Gas to Liquid Project (EGTL) in the name of Ugborodo indigenes are impostors and are not even Itsekiris.
This was carried out then by a strong conspiracy between the management of Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) and some unscrupulous elements of Ugborodo community through the IRDC.
This brought a situation where jobs meant for Itsekiris indigenes from CNL host communities are diverted and sold to staff of Chevron Nigeria Limited who are nonetribes and they give same to their people from other parts of the country and they are giving either ghost Itsekiri names or are made to answer the names of some indigenes of the host communities without the knowledge of the the true bearers, while most true Itsekiris who are indigenes of these communities never got any job through the years of the construction of the project.
This sad and wicked act have made most of our indigenes both graduates, skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled to have only seen EGTL from the community and have never stepped foot into it, not to talk about working there, whereas other people used their names to work there for for years even when they are qualified.
I want to state emphatically to the Management of Chevron Nigeria Limited that it is no longer business as usual, for the present executive of the Youths of Ugborodo will not tolerate this criminal and dubious act, that have made our indigenes jobless while their few job slots in CNL have been criminally and wickedly giving to others to the detriment of the indigenes of our community.
This backdoor pattern by Chevron Nigeria Limited of short changing our community is now old fashion because we are now wiser than that, hence we are saying all our indigenes to be employed for the turn around maintenance of the EGTL plant be recommended and identified by Ugborodo community leadership.
We demand our 60% in the total work force to be employed for the turn around maintenance as stated in the local content act of Nigeria for host communities.
That we are civil and doesn’t pick up arms against companies in our land doesn’t mean we are weak, any attempt to continue this evil act on our community may force us to apply legal means to push and achieve our demand for the survival of our land.
Many Thanks,
For: Ugborodo Community Youths.
