It appears some persons or group of individuals are directly or indirectly insinuating that Delta State belong to an individual. This is not a healthy development for peaceful coexistence. It is a selfish and illegal claim.

Yes, their innuendos and body language suggests that a particular individual own the state, and that everybody therein are his subjects. And that for you to become somebody or aspire to certain positions of leadership in the state you must be approved by the owner of the state or you go nowhere.

This notion is gradually breeding a deep rooted political cold war. It questions the authority of God, for an individual to become the alpha and omega of Delta State. God rules and reigns in the affairs of men. This is sad, because it present the rest of us as inferior Deltans, people that cannot forge ahead in life without the express permission of an individual.

In other words, our individual political and leadership attainments must be determined by him, not God. They tell you to your face that without him your political feature will be useless, no going forward, you will be caged or rusticated. Jesus is the Lord, not mere mortals.

Therefore, for you to make it as a politician in Delta State, you must worship him and the Oligarchs. For me, my future is in God's hands, not in the hands of any mortal. And I have nothing against those whose future and destinies are in his hands, the hands of a mortal. It's their choice.

Historical facts revealed that there can never be a permanent king maker in political leadership, who must forever preside over the political affairs and destinies of others, not in democratic politics. Not in America, not in Europe and not in Nigeria. It is a selfish ambition to want to own a state and be the sole kingmaker forever.

It is morally defective and repugnant to natural justice, equity and good conscience for an individual to claim ownership of Delta State. It is offensive to the ears and must never be given credence for the sake of our collective unity and peaceful coexistence politically.

There comes a time political tyranny and despotic leadership will be challenged and/or resisted by the people, because nobody wants to be an inferior citizen or subservient forever to another and his immediate family. We were born free and equal in the sight of God. It is the duty of the oppressed to liberate themselves. We must do anything and everything to be free, NOW.

God shall continue to control our future and destinies, not man. God reigns in the affairs of men, not mere mortals. God's will shall always prevail. Those whose political future and destinies are in the hands of one man, I congratulate you specially, but my destiny and future is in God's hands.

Those whose life ambition is to rule Delta State forever should realise that the rest of us cannot be inferior second class citizens forever. After all, Delta State was created, but not given to any individual for an inheritance. Delta state is a legal geographical political entity, not a Kingdom, not a hereditary monarchy.

The state belong to all Deltans, and I stand to be corrected. Anybody claiming sole ownership of Delta State should kindly publish proof of ownership either by inheritance, outright procurement from Federal Government or by statutory allocation to that individual. We need the proof of ownership and in case there is none, then you must stop saying "I am the owner of Delta State."

The three senatorial districts; North, South and Central are equal, with equal opportunities and anybody can aspire to any position without being threatened by any self acclaimed owner of the state. Delta is not a kingdom or Sultanate. It is a state in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, created for all Deltans.

The State existed before politicians started playing politics, not the other way round. Nobody is the owner of Delta State, it belong to all Deltans.

For crying out loud, we are sick and tired of "I am the owner of Delta State." No mortal own any state in Nigeria. We are all equal stakeholders in Delta State, but we have leaders and we must respect our leaders and partner with them.

We must also serve our leaders so that we too can be leaders tomorrow, not followers forever. No leader should present himself as the sole owner of the state. It is an insult on all citizens of the state. The rest of us are not second class citizens.

No politician can make himself. If you claim to have made some people politically, don't ever forget that some people also joined hands together to make you what you are today politically. There is no self made man living on the surface of the earth. Only God is self made and I stand to be corrected.

Anybody claiming to be self made equates himself or herself with God. No man is God, and no man is equal to God. All men are mortal but God is immortal.

Political leadership is transient, never permanent anywhere in the world. Even the dreaded Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who claim to be the god of the Yoruba nation is already facing some complicated rejection and technical purging by some of his footsoldiers; because he cannot be a permanent kingmaker for life. There is a time to voluntarily step aside, particularly when the ovation is loudest.

New generation of leaders must emerge, whether you like it or not. It is natural for new leaders to emerge while the old ones go on retirement. They become Elder Statesmen, to be consulted whenever the need arises.

A leader who cannot produce a successor ceases to be a leader the day his or her tenure terminates. If you produced your successor, it is only fair for you to allow the incumbent leader to produce his successor. This is equity and good conscience.

You must stop saying "I am the owner of Delta State for life," please. It is an insult on all Deltans. Delta State belong to all Deltans, not an estate of any individual, living or dead.

The state governor is the leader of the state and he should be able to produce his successor with the cooperation of leaders from the three senatorial districts. It is unacceptable for the incumbent governor to be arm twisted and made powerless in the choice of his successor.

If you produced your successor, kindly allow the incumbent governor to produce his successor. It is called equity and good conscience.

What is good for the goose is also good for the gander.

OPEC ministers raise Nigeria’s oil quota to 1.772mbpd _DeltaNews247.com

 

The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC, and non-OPEC oil ministers, yesterday, increased Nigeria’s oil quota to 1.772 million barrels per day, mbpd for June, from 1.753 mbpd for May 2022, according to its June 2022 Required Production released yesterday.

This showed a marginal increase of 19,000 bpd or one percent when compared to the previous quota, which the nation was unable to meet.

However, with Nigeria’s crude oil grade, Bonny Light at $110 per barrel, the new quota translates to daily oil revenue of $194.92 million or N81.67 billion.

Under the new quota, Nigeria’s allocation remains the highest in Africa, followed by Angola and Algeria, with 1.480 mbpd and 1.023 mbpd respectively.

However, while Sudan got 73 bpd (the least) as its quota, the ministers put the oil quota of Russia, which oil has already been banned by the European Union at 10,663 mbpd, apparently the highest.

In a statement obtained by Vanguard, OPEC stated: “Following the conclusion of the 28th OPEC and non-OPEC Ministerial Meeting, held via video conference on 5th May, it was noted that continuing oil market fundamentals and the consensus on the outlook pointed to a balanced market.

“It further noted the continuing effects of geopolitical factors and issues related to the ongoing pandemic. The OPEC and participating non-OPEC oil-producing countries, therefore, decided to reaffirm the decision of the 10th OPEC and non-OPEC Ministerial Meeting on 12th April 2020 and further endorsed in subsequent meetings, including the 19th OPEC and non-OPEC Ministerial Meeting on the 18th July 2021.”

Speaking, Dr. Diran Fawibe, Chairman of International Energy Services Limited, said the market might continue to record increased instability as Nigeria will not be able to meet its quota, apparently because of increased pipeline vandalism, oil theft and illegal refining in the Niger Delta.

He said: “The oil and gas companies have not been investing much, partly because of the delay associated with the passage of the nation’s Petroleum Industry Bill, PIB, which has now become an Act. Consequently, a lot of investments went to other nations, leading to the low production capacity of the country.

“The nation’s ageing facilities also affected the industry. Unlike in the past when Nigeria was able to increase production to support OPEC whenever other nations had problems, Nigeria cannot do so at this time. Even with its commercial condensate, Nigeria still struggles to produce about 1.4 mbpd.”

Recall also that the federal government had blamed the country’s inability to attain the approved target to activities of vandals, refineries turnaround maintenance, amongst others.

Delta 2023: James Manager Emerges Preferred Ijaw Governorship Aspirant_DeltaNews247.com

Delta 2023 governorship aspirant, Senator James Ebiowou Manager has emerged the preferred choice of Delta Ijaw For Governor leadership ahead of the gubernatorial primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The lawmaker, currently representing the Delta South Senatorial District was picked ahead of other Ijaw governorship aspirants, the incumbent Deputy Governor of Delta State, Kingsley Otuaro, and Braduce Angozi, a former Commissioner of Agriculture to slot it out with other PDP aspirants from other ethnic nationalities in the state, with a view to emerging as the sole candidate of the party for the Delta 2023 governorship election.

Findings by Daily Report Nigeria reveal that Ijaws in Delta State have been working round the clock to prune down the list of aspirants contesting the 2023 governorship election in order to increase their chances of winning the seat.

The emergence of Manager, politically referred to as Egbage, was preceded by several rigorous and painstaking processes, which began with the declaration of the ‘Ijaw Agenda’ mantra.

Ijaw governorship agenda 2023

The Ijaws made their desire to produce the next governor of the state no secret from the instance the question of who will succeed Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in Dennis Osadebey House came to mind.

The second largest ethnic nationality in the state behind only the Urhobos, Ijaws consistently echoed 2023, the turn for them to occupy the apex seat of power in the state.

Arguably, the greatest contributors to the economic input in Delta, marginalization of its mostly coastal areas in developmental actions served as a great pointer to their clamour.

The former Minister of Police Affairs led other Ijaw leaders to declare their commitment to taking over power from the incumbent administration come 2023.

Stressing that unity was all his people needed to emerge victorious, Broderick said, “Delta state belongs to all of us, and the ljaws have the right to become governor. This is our time, let’s unite ahead to form a formidable team to battle for the seat of government.”

The elder statesman’s thoughts were reiterated by President of the Ijaw National Congress, Prof. Benjamin Okaba, who said that his people will no longer play the role of supporting other ethnicities in the State.

Okaba particularly called on other sister tribes to support the Ijaws for the 2023 governorship.

Describing 2023 as a divine mandate, Okaba said; We the Ijaws of Delta..can no longer be a supporters club. This time around, it is the turn of Urhobos, Isokos, Ndokwa, Itsekiris, Anioma, Ika nations to support the Ijaws course for.”

While the ‘Ijaw Governorship Agenda’ had been a campaign on social media long before then, that convention gave the needed impetus to the pursuit of purpose.

The fact that a national figure such as Alaowei Broderick Bozimo was at the forefront with the backing of Pa Edwin Clark and the INC President, who incidentally is from the state, made it more a forceful and worthwhile course for many.

Several consultative meetings with other ethnic nationalities, Senatorial Districts and critical stakeholders by the Committee followed the convention, to further add momentum to the Ijaw governorship course.

One major task the Delta Ijaw For Governor 2023 Lobby Team had in its consultations across the state was to silence the argument of zoning, which was argued by many quarters, particularly the Delta Central District.

Another argument raised was that, even if there was a zoning arrangement, all Senatorial Districts have had a taste of the governorship seat, and as such, starting the rotation from the Ijaws in Delta South was the only fair deal.

The argument to zone the 2023 governorship to Delta Central was further quashed by Ijaw national leader and elder statesman, Pa Edwin Clark, who called on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to provide a level playing ground for all aspirants.

How Manager emerged preferred candidate

By the time the zoning arrangement was watered down, the next challenge obviously became who was the preferred candidate to give Ijaws a brighter fighting chance at the primary of the Peoples Democratic Party, as three of the finest politicians from Ijaw extraction made known their intentions to contest the election from a very early stage and remained committed to finishing strong.

The need to provide a candidate with the wherewithal to challenge and wrestle the ticket from aspirants of other ethnic nationalities led to the next line of consultations and deliberations among key stakeholders.

The dilemma led to several interventions and joint sessions with the leaderships of Ijaw National Congress, and the Ijaw Youth Council of Delta extraction, critical stakeholders, the Broderick Bozimo-led Committee, the three aspirants and an Evaluation Committee headed by former Vice Chancellor of DELSU, Prof. Victor Peretomenele, saddled with the responsibility of interfacing with the three aspirants, in a bid to pruning down the number to a single aspirant to increase the chances of Ijaws winning the ticket.

A reliable source, who was privy to all the processes told Daily Report Nigeria that “the Committee interfaced with the the aspirants individually and collectively.

“The three aspirants after several hours of interfacing and discussions among themselves, could not agree on a sole candidate, but declared their intention to abide by the report/decision of the Evaluation Committee.

“After over 48 hours of critical assessment of the content, capacity, antecedents, political capital and other variables amassed by the aspirants over the years, the Committee, after a contentious debate among members at Alaowei Bozimo’s residence, picked Senator James Manager as the preferred candidate.”

Our source noted that while the two other aspirants were eminently qualified, it was wise that a single candidate is picked to battle with others in the interest of the Ijaw nation.

Our source also noted that the report on the decision of Manager as a preferred candidate has not been forwarded to the leadership of Ijaw Nation for further actions, which the source said would be done soon.

When contacted on if Ijaws have picked a preferred candidate, the INC President, Prof. Okaba said there was a Committee responsible for that, and that the decision of the Committee has not reached him.

Efforts to reach Alaowei Broderick Bozimo for his comments on this proved abortive as calls and text messages to his mobile were not attended to.

OKOWA CALLS FOR FUNDING OF NIGERIA'S EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM

Delta Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, on Monday, said Nigeria needs to expand the frontiers of its revenue generation to enable the country mitigate the funding challenges inhibiting its educational development.

Okowa disclosed this in an interview with journalists shortly after inspecting facilities at the Faculties of Engineering and Environmental Sciences at the Owa-Alero Campus of the University of Delta (UNIDEL), Agbor.

He stated that there was no doubt that the nation need to invest more funds in education in terms of infrastructure, human resource, equipment that is needed and in ensuring the availability of full internet services in every university in the country.

According to him, it is important to fund the nation's educational system but unfortunately the nation's economy is challenged.

"If you look at the national budget and most of the state budgets, you will find out that both the federal and state governments are actually struggling through.

"When you have so many competing forces to deal with in an annual budget, you just try to put little funds across here and there.

"Because, in the first instance, you have to ensure that you pay salaries and if at the end of the payment of salaries you have little left, then it is a major problem.

"Whenever I study the budget of the federal government, l feel very worried about the huge challenge we have as a nation because you find out that every single kobo that is actually going into infrastructural development or capital development is actually borrowed.

"So, when all your resource that is available outside borrowing goes into recurrent expenditure, there is a huge problem.

"And that is why if you actually study the budget in full at the federal level, what you tend to see is that in the individual sector such as education and health, you have very huge funds available for recurrent expenditure because of payment of salaries," he said.

At the end, the governor said, "You only have between 10 to 15 or maximum 20 per cent for capital development, adding that this, in itself, was a very huge problem."

The Governor stressed the need for the nation to find a way to reprioritize its priorities by beginning to look at the sectors that should be given greater attention.

"We need to invest more funds in education, no doubt about that; more funds in terms of infrastructure; more funds in terms of human resource; more funds in terms of equipment that is needed and ensuring that we have full internet services in every university.

"I think it requires a lot of work and a lot of prioritization to actually deal with the sectors that are most important. All sectors are important but some sectors are definitely more important than others.

"So, it requires a genuine analysis of what we are doing at the moment and then having a rethink to be able to take us to where we ought to be," the governor added.

On the level of work so far executed at the Faculties of Engineering and Environmental Sciences at the Owa-Alero Campus of UNIDEL, he noted that work had progressed, adding that it was his hope that the work should progress a little faster

"I think the work we are seeing here has actually progressed considerably because the last time we came here, the work was at DPC level

"But it is still my hope that work can progress a little faster so that l can bring this to an end. What we are seeing here is the various facilities that would be required to enable a full take off of the faculties.

"Yes, some of the classrooms are ready but there is still work to be done and l am being told that in the next two weeks, they will complete the issues concerning the classrooms.

"But we can see the various other projects (the library, workshop and other things) that are nearing completion and we hope that very soon, they will be able to complete them.

"Looking at my back, we have some of the engineering equipment already supplied and we are hoping that we will be able to install them by the time the workshops and studios are completed.

"So, l have directed that we should do the best that we can to ensure that the workshops and studios are finished as quickly as possible

"I think it is a good site to behold and l just hope that in the next few weeks we can actually complete this job so that the place can be very functional at the end of the day, Okowa said.

While saying that the two faculties have been accredited by the National University Commission (NUC), the governor disclosed that lectures had since commenced in the campus.

BREAKING: Prophet T.B. Joshua Is Dead

Pastor Temitope Balogun Joshua popularly known as T. B. Joshua, is dead.

Born on June 12, 1963, he was a televangelist and philanthropist.

He reportedly died in Lagos on Saturday evening shortly after concluding a programme at his church.

TB Joshua was the leader and founder of The Synagogue, Church of All Nations (SCOAN), a Christian megachurch that runs the Emmanuel TV television station from Lagos.

According to Wikipedia, Joshua was known for his popularity across Africa and Latin America and his social media presence with 3,500,000 fans on Facebook.

His YouTube channel, Emmanuel TV, had over 1,000,000 YouTube subscribers and was the world’s most viewed Christian ministry on the platform before it was suspended.

The cause of his dead was unknown as at the time of this report.
